Well I’m doing my grocery shopping tomorrow (working up some great deals to share with you when I’m done!) and so I am also planning some menus for the month. (Which I definitely recommend so that you know what you need when you go shopping rather than just grabbing stuff you might not use or lack ingredients when you want to cook!)
Anyway, Thanks to Alyssa at KingdomFirstMom, I have discovered www.supercook.com. I LOVE IT! You can put in what ingredients you have, and find a recipe and it will tell you if you have everything or what you need in order to make it. This will simplify my menu planning so much! (Although I still love my cookbooks, but would rather not flip through them to find a recipe I could make… if only there was some kind of incredible way to get all those recipes into a single database or something! Someone work on that!)
For example…(since my shopping trip is tomorrow I’m using what we have in the fridge/pantry)… SO I put in eggs, ham, broccoli, rice, squash, and some staples like flour, breadcrumbs etc. It came up with pages of recipes that I could make if I had some more ingredients but there was one I could make with the ingredients I had.
Here’s the recipe I’m making tonight!
Ingredients
- 2 cups brown rice, cooked
- 2 cups diced cooked ham
- 1 1/2 cups broccoli, cooked
- 1 (10 1/2 ounce) can cream of broccoli soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons margarine, melted
Directions
-
Preheat oven to 325.
-
Combine everything except bread crumbs and margarine in a baking dish.
-
Top with buttered bread crumbs.
-
Cook for 30min.
