In case you did not know, DFW is one of the test markets for CVS’ new sales dates (Friday through Thursday) as well as the new design of the ad itself. Personally…and as a graphic designer…I think the new ad would be a bad move. I guess not a lot of people may really care what an ad looks like, but then maybe they do? From what I have read online, the new ad has not had great reviews. It has been compared to dollar store ads…I have to say that it is a bit true. I compared the “new” (test ads) and the old (current) ads.
The ads are fine the way they are now, and look much classier! The new/test ads have bright yellow and orange and sometimes red gradient starbursts for prices that I think are just ridiculous. You look at the ad and everything yelling at you. The old/current ads have the nice “cvs shape” for their prices. The new ad also uses that shape but more modernized in some place (going along with the web 2.0, bubbly look) which I think is the best. (Go with this one CVS!) …ok so that’s my opinion, just wanted to get that out there!…what do you think?
