It is amazing the way so many things in the natural can reflect God and His Nature. John 15 is a good example of this…how pruning is good for the vine; it produces more fruit. That is true with us and what God does.
This morning God gave me a revelation, similar to this…
As I’ve mentioned before, we have a garden…although with the heat and dry summer conditions, it’s not so great right now. I noticed that when I tried to pull a branch back through the cage, it would easily break off. In reading about caring for tomato plants, I learned that you should shake the tomato cage once in a while. It strengthen the branches. In the same way, God ‘shakes’ us…making us spiritually stronger. Shaking could come as a test, challenge, or what we might just call a “hard time”. But when we come out of that, we are stronger. The Word tells us this in James 1:2-3:
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.”
Also, you cannot just shake a tomato plant once or even twice for it the branches to become strong. You must shake it pretty often. The plant is happy without being shaken (as long as its branches do not get bent or broken)…God doesn’t want us to just go through life weak (and superficially happy), He wants to challenge us, grow us, and strengthen us in order to get us to a deeper spiritual level.
