Has God ever tested your obedience? Lately, I have been in a season of learning obedience to His voice. There have been times where I have had to repent to God, knowing that I had chosen not to do what He had put on my heart. Other times when I “pass His test” I am drawn closer to Him and am blessed. When we hear the word of the Lord and obey, intimacy with Him is increased.
Personally, recent tests of obedience have been to stop right then and pray for someone, sharing something God has spoken to me, giving a word of encouragement to someone, and acting in godliness in different situations. The tests have become more challenging but each test brings greater blessing of intimacy and spiritual growth. Being intimate with the Father allows us to hear His voice; obeying His voice brings intimacy with Him!
There are many promises of blessing to the obedient in His Word…
Exodus 19:5 says,
“Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine”
“And if you faithfully obey the voice of the LORD your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the LORD your God.”
The scripture continues on to list the blessings of obedience from our gracious and Holy Father.
This week, I challenge you to listen to His Word, seek Him, hear His voice. Then, obey. The word of the Lord says, “My sheep hear My voice and I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27
